GSOC33 COAXIAL COMMENTATORS CONTROL UNIT
GENERAL
The Glensound GSOC33 commentators control unit is designed to operate with the
GSOC34 Commentators Unit. Connection between the GSOC33 and GSOC34 is by a single coaxial
cable.
MECHANICAL ARRANGEMENT
Our sketch A3-14424 shows the overall shape and size
of the GSOC33. This shows a ten channel version. That is it has facilities to control and
supervise ten commentators units. We can manufacture these units with any number of
channels up to a maximum of ten. If a unit is ordered with less than ten channels, we can
manufacture this in a shorter case, when there would be no room to add channels at a later
date, or in a full size case with spare channel spaces fitted with blanks.
Normally the GSOC33 is fitted with ten channels and two power supply modules. Each power supply is capable of powering the whole unit. If fewer channels are required, the most compact unit could be made with only one PSU.
MAIN FACILITIES
1) To produce a balance between the three commentators and international sound.
2) To provide line identifications for the program and coord lines
3) To provide comprehensive monitoring facilities
4) To provide communication with the commentators and the studio
Our sketch number A2-14426 shows the panel layout of each of the three modules.
SEND LEVELS
Screwdriver controlled presets are provided to accommodate a range of different
output levels. The easiest way to set these levels is to use the internal ident generators
to send line up tone, and then adjust the presets while monitoring the program go (or
coord go) levels with an external level meter.
RECEIVE LEVELS
The correct line up for external inputs is achieved by using the internal
monitoring meters, and adjusting the input gain controls until the incoming audio peaks to
the desired level on the meter.
