GS1U-024 INTERFACE SUBRACK
This unit was designed to interface between the outputs of VHS recorders to the inputs of professional broadcast equipment. It occupies 1U of rack space.
FACILITIES
The GS1U-024 can be supplied fitted with 1,2,3 or 4 channel cards. The units are
identified with a A,B,C or D suffix. Each channel card has a stereo input and 3 outputs
INPUTS
The inputs are designed to operate with an unbalanced source with a level of about
-10dBu. This being the typical level at the output of a VHS recorder. To minimise noise
and hum loop problems the inputs to the GS1U-024 are balanced. For correct installation it
is best to use balanced wiring to the VHS machine where, of course the 'mate' will find
ground.
Two multiturn screwdriver presets are provided to allow for variations in the level from
the VHS recorders. One control operates on A or the left signal an one on B or the right
signal. The gain range of the controls are such that 0dBu output can be achieved with any
input from 0dBu to -20dBu
The inputs are electronically balanced with an input impedance greater than 20K Ohms
OUTPUTS
For each channel three outputs are provided. These are A (Left), B (Right) and M (
Mono)
The M output is always equal to A+B minus 3dB.
The outputs are electronically balanced with a nominal output impedance of 50 Ohms. These
outputs are capable of driving a high impedance or 600 Ohm load.
FREQUENCY RESPONSE
Each input has a 12dB/octave band pass filter. These are usually set to be 1dB down
at 40Hz and at 15KHz.
POWER
These units are mains operated. The mains PSU is made to BS415 class 2.
Mains earth is firmly attached to the chassis, but two terminals are provided on the rear
panel so that the internal equipment 0volt rail can be isolated if required.

This equipment is designed to meet the current EMC regulations and is CE marked
To fully meet these regulations it is essential that all inputs and outputs are wired with
screened cables.
