GS-U2S
ISDN U BUS TO S BUS CONVERTER (Network Terminator)
This portable ISDN U to S bus converter (NT1) is a must have piece of equipment for all engineers and journalists using ISDN outside of Europe.
All of Glensounds (and most other
broadcast manufacturers) ISDN equipment is terminated with an S Bus and this
equipment must be plugged into an ISDN line terminated in an S Bus to work.
Our handy GS-U2S allows ours (and other manufacturers) S
Bus ISDN equipment to be plugged into U Bus ISDN lines.
Throughout Europe & Australia ISDN lines are terminated as an S Bus with RJ45
sockets.
In the USA ISDN lines are supplied on a U BUS sometimes just as a pair of wires,
sometimes on RJ11 sockets.
Without extensive research before you travel it is not easy to be certain what
type of ISDN interface you will be given in other Countries, for example some
parts of China use S Bus and others use U bus.

The GS-U2S is battery operated (from 2 x AA cells) and also has an external 9 volt DC input . Battery life is well in excess of 15 hours. A toggle switch turns the unit on/off and an LED indicates that the power is turned on.
The
picture to the left shows the power & U Bus end of the GS-U2S. The U Bus
connection is on a pair of terminals that easily accept bare wires and also on
an RJ45 socket. The RJ45 socket can have an RJ11 plug connected directly into
it.
The yellow STATUS LED indicates if a problem exists or if everything is working
OK. If there is a problem with the U Bus the LED will flash quickly, if a
problem exists with the S Bus then the LED will flash slowly and if everything
is OK then the LED will be permanently on.

The picture to the left shows the S Bus end of the GS-U2S.
2 x S busses are provided for connecting up to 2 pieces of equipment to.
For correct impedance matching for longer extension cable runs termination
resistors can be switched in or out of circuit.
