CAT 5 Commentators Equipment

Main System Features
This 19inch 1RU base station is powered from an internal switch mode psu and is designed primarily for installation in OB vehicles. It connects with up to four commentators boxes which can be up to 250metres away using cat 5 cable terminated in RJ45 connectors. This cable is readily available, cheap and easily terminated.

1U 19inch Base Station type GSGC21B
This provides an engineering position that connects with up to four commentator’s boxes and a producer’s box. The commentator boxes can all be used to contribute to a single program or can be switched to produce two independent but simultaneous programs. This means that just 3U of bay space can house facilities for six programmes.
Very comprehensive monitoring is provided using sixteen electronically interlocking buttons. Any number of subracks can be easily interconnected. Then the interlocking buttons work from subrack to subrack and the monitoring is coupled so that from one subrack the engineer can monitor any subrack.
Talkback is provided to each commentator, the producer, two studios and a local four wire. In addition the engineer can talkback over the programme lines and record two local idents, one for each programme line.

Commentators Box type GSGC19B
This very compact unit (140 x 130 x 80mm) provides facilities for a single commentator. Six potentiometers mix the commentator’s choice of sources to either or both ears. Five talkback buttons enable him to communicate easily. A high quality compressor/limiter circuit accommodates a wide range of input levels

Producers box type GSGC22B
This is a very similar to the commentator’s box but slightly wider to accommodate a total of eight potentiometers and eight talkback switches.
